FHS has four dedicated ICT suites, as well as two Music suites, an Art Design & Technology cluster, a Communal Library suite and several workstations spread throughout various departments.

Key Stage 3 Computer Science

Years 7, 8 and 9 have dedicated Computer Science lessons with a specialist computer science teacher.  These introduce a wide range of techniques and programming skills and are designed to set up the students with the Computing skills that they will need in school and beyond.

Key areas include computer and internet safety followed by some programming using the BBC Micro-Bit, this will also include basic programming theory.  Their knowledge base is added to by working on a games project using the Scratch block building programming software.

Key Stage 4 Computer Science GCSE

Computer Science is offered as a GCSE option for completion of the AQA Computing Science specification in years 10 and 11.  The students have the opportunity to develop their programming skills further, through a range of practical and theoretical tasks. They will gain experiences in a range of computing languages such as VB.Net and C#, and solve real life scenarios as part of their coursework tasks.
