Author visit: Patrice Lawrence

Patrice Lawrence

On Wednesday 14th March, Year 9 students went to meet the brilliant author Patrice Lawrence. Patrice’s writing has won several awards including the Waterstones Children's Book Prize for Older Children and The Bookseller YA Book Prize. Her novels explore themes such as bullying, fostering and relationships for a teenage audience.

Meeting an author in real life and hearing them convey their passion for their work can fundamentally alter a child or young person’s relationship with books and ignite a life-long love of reading and writing, and Patrice did not disappoint! With plenty of tips for the aspiring writer, she was warm and approachable and shared lots of stories from her own life.

We have several copies of ‘Orangeboy’ and ‘Indigo Donut’ in our school library. You can also check out her writing blog at:

If a parent requires a paper copy of the information on the school's website, please contact us and this will be provided free of charge
