Upfest hand-picks FHS to participate

Back in the Spring, we were chosen as one of 10 schools in Bristol to participate in the street festival ‘Upfest’ in conjunction with the German department at the University of Bristol. The aim of the project was to link German, History and Art and design a piece to commemorate the fall of the Berlin Wall.

We launched a competition with the now Year 9 students asking them "What would you paint on the Berlin Wall?". We had a lot of fantastic entries which were narrowed down to 5 with the addition of a poem by Mayzey. The finalist were Erin, Ruby, Soraya, Olivia, Finn and Emily.

Jon Meakin has worked incredibly hard with the students, teaching them spray paint techniques and helping their designs become a reality, as you can see here. They are truly inspirational.
