Bristol University runs science workshops for Y11

The Science Department at FHS hosted 37 Bristol University Science PGCE students on Friday 24th April.

The idea was for the science graduates, who are almost at the end of their teacher training, to run individual workshops for all of our Year 11 students.  Workshops ran for Biology, Chemistry and Physics throughout the day, with a carousel of activities prepared by Bristol University on key areas of the curriculum.

Feedback from the university students was fantastic.  They praised our students for their enthusiasm and engagement, saying they wished they’d had more time to go through more topics with them.  Our students found the experience extremely positive, with one commenting: 'It was a really useful revision session and built on the work i've been preparing already.'

We look forward to hosting the group again next year and we would like to thank both Bristol University and our students for taking part in such a wonderful day.
