Students learn Reggae, Blues and Classical music

Year 7

Year 7 have been exploring Programme music. This is music that tells a story and paints a picture in your mind or transports you to another place. They have studied music as varied as Holst's The Planet Suite to Peter and the Wolf by Prokofiev.

Pupils have been composing their own pieces using only themselves and a few chairs and they have been working as an ensemble.

Year 8

Year 8 have been studying Blues music. All students have been performing as a large class ensemble using a melody and chords.

Students have started to work on their compositions by starting with melodies and will be working on the computer programme Cubase.

Year 9

Year 9 have been studying Reggae. They have been performing as a class ensemble in 3 parts: melody, bass and chords, and have started composing their own reggae songs based on a variety of themes. The standard of work produced in such a short time has been truly impressive.

Winter Concert

The choir has started off really well this year. They have been singing a variety of songs in preparation for the winter concert.

We're off to Wembley!

Next term the choir will be starting to learn songs for the School's Voice in a Million concert at Wembley in March.

New members are always welcome; please see Miss Morgan if you are interested.
