Term 5's message from the Principal

As we find ourselves in these extraordinary times, I would like to first and foremost praise all of our staff, students and parents/carers for the way in which everyone has adapted and managed under these circumstances. For many, there has been an incredible juggling act of working from home, looking after relatives, parenting/home schooling… and all against a back drop of fear about Covid-19. I am proud of the Fairfield community for continuing to astound me in the fantastic job they are doing.

A special mention should go to Year 7 student Mya Thomas who has raised an impressive £1,160 for the NHS by buzz cutting her 22 inch hair; Mya was also able to donate her hair to a charity to make wigs for children who have lost their hair to cancer.

The community has also rallied round to support St Paul’s Adventure Playground which sadly burnt down; this playground holds even an even stronger place in our hearts as a former student helped to build the playground during his work experience, and many of our staff/students have strong connections to these facilities. A tremendous £27,023 has been raised to date.

Finally, you may remember last year we highlighted the exceptional talents of Shanai Campbell in Year 9 who was taking the youth Graphic Art world by storm with her creative digital illustrations. Shanai has received a nomination for an Enterprise Hero award from Bristol Young Heroes in relation to her greeting cards. We wish Shanai the very best of luck.
