PE update/Sport Relief support

Boys football season has well and truly begun starting with a successful block fixture vs Bristol Cathedral Choir School. Year 7 played their first ever game for Fairfield and won 3-1, Year 8 started their season with a 4-1 win, Year 9 earnt an epic 4-4 draw with a last minute equaliser, Year 10 won 6-0 and Y11 won 3-1. Our next block of fixtures will be against Orchard and Redland Green School before half term, leaving fixtures with City academy after half term.

The next P.E dept trip will be to watch Bristol Bears vs Saracens on Friday 20th March, details are on Parentmail, please see Mr Goodchild for a letter.

On Friday 31st January Ashley Down Old Boys Rugby Club provided a Rugby work shop for our Year 7 and Year 8 students. With over 50 boys attending the workshop was set up to provide a community link for boys to transition from School Rugby to their local Rugby club. Ashley Down are currently recruiting in Year 7 and Year 8, any boys interesting in attending please contact Junior Chairman Kevin Shipway on (Pictures on FHS P.E twitter)

Fantastic news – Saskia Watson 8Q was the winner of the Junior Female category in the South West Schools climbing championship. This was especially impressive as she was competing against girls in Year 9. Saskia came first in a field of over 30 other climbers in the disciplines of top roping, speed and bouldering. Well done Saskia!

The Fairfield High School P.E dept is also supporting the whole school initiative of going plastic free, we would therefore like to remind students not to bring single use plastic bottles to P.E and instead use a reusable bottle.

Finally, keep an eye out for the fun and activities happening in Sport Relief week starting 9th March, all students will be running the Sport Relief mile as well as having the opportunity to take part in fun activities during lunch time!
