EDF Energy

110 students from year 9 met Neil Weston who works for EDF energy. Neil’s careers talk (see picture above) went through the importance of language in workplace and a day in the life of an engineer at Hinkley Point. He explained all the different jobs that EDF energy offer and how Engineers can improve their career prospects by using languages. The Fairfield students were really interested and asked many questions. Many thanks to Neil Weston for his insight into his work.

AirFrance

On November 14 period 1 and 2 we had a speaker from AirFrance coming all the way from Paris to do a presentation to our Year 9 French students. Chloé is a ground agent in Charles de Gaulle airport and she came to talk about her job and how languages help her every day. She speaks 3 languages fluently, but also knows a lot about body language and customs to ensure good communication with customers. She told the students about how interesting her job was, meeting new people from all over the world every day, without the hassle of having to be away from home all year round. The students asked a lot of questions and were very engaged in the presentation.
