Around 300 families visited our Open Evening

Around 300 families from all over Bristol attended our Open Evening.

Visitors were treated to P.E. demonstrations and performances including drumming, drama and dance, and had the opportunity to visit classrooms to get a real sense of the curriculum we deliver. Departments offered fun activities to engage visitors including a bed of nails, laser cutting, cookery, flame tests, mandala making and animation cinema.

Our Sports Hall was packed with visitors who wanted to hear the Head Teacher's presentation and meet our Year 7 Achievement Coordinator, a selection of students including our newly appointed Head Girl and Head Boy, plus hear from a parent who has a child in Year 7.

Head Teacher Ms. Catriona Mangham's presentation can be downloaded below.

Some of the comments received

'Really lovely kids, great focus on attainment'

'I have no doubts'

'Really impressed. Of all the schools i've visited, your Open Evening was by far the best. Amazing staff and students.'

''We were very impressed by everything happening at Fairfield...we're now considering putting it down as our first choice'

'Presentation really sold us on the school, in particular how happy the children seem and the support for them.  Being shown round by happy and proud pupils was great'

'Safety is priority for my children attending school; FHS has this feel and warmth of a lovely school.  FHS is one of my top 2 schools'

'Impressive – The kids do you proud'

'We have been very impressed both years we have attended the Open Evenings.  We were very impressed with the transparency of the Head Teacher's speech and confidence of the pupils'

'Miss Mangham’s comments were reassuring and inspiring.  I sat there thinking what’s not to like about this… The emphasis on children feeling free to be themselves, that academic success isn’t everything, that Ofsted found the school incredibly harmonious, that the most important thing for us parents was not the teachers’ spiel but seeing the school and talking to the pupils…'

'The feel of the school was calm, productive and warm.  The students were polite and charming.  It’s all good'

'I feel confident that [child] would be nurtured, looked after, valued and have a better chance of feeling happy and secure that he might in other schools'
